Quick Cinnamon Simmered Apples & Pears
Super simple, comes together in minutes and my daughter's early favorite!
These Cinnamon simmered apples and pears are ready in minutes and were one of the first solid(ish) foods that we’d make for our daughter Eleanor. Back then, sleep really wasn’t guaranteed and I’d often find myself making these around 5:30 in the morning.
Luckily for this recipe, you literally just had to simmer some pears or apples in water with some cinnamon for a couple of minutes until slightly tender (which is a great texture for teething littles to chew on). Anything more than that and the fruit will loose it’s form and start turning into mush.
It might not be a showstopper, but over the years, simple, consistent and tasty foods like this have been hugely helpful for our family. They also go great on some ice cream with chocolate syrup 😬
Perspective is a funny thing. Even though I was making these every morning for months, so sleepy, so tired during the process, it’s now been almost 2 years since we’ve made them at all. I don’t remember why necessarily, it probably just fell off of our rotation as Eleanor’s viable food options grew. But I’ll always remember that morning routine and handing Eleanor those little slices of fruit for her to gnaw on. Life can be so intense when you’re in the thick of it, and seem so far gone when your through it.
And with that, I hope you enjoy these simmered fruits.
Cheers,
Joey
